Hello there! My name is Dania Beltran Carrillo, I received my Bachelors of Fine Arts in Photography from California State University, Long Beach and recently received my Single Subject Art Credential in hopes to be able to teach Photography or Digital arts to high school students. I was born in Sinaloa, Mexico and moved to the small town of Brawley, California when I was 10 years old. I've recently had the chance to teach an art class in a school that only served children with high functioning autism, something I thought I would never had the privilege to do. It peeked my interest in how arts affects and benefits people with disabilities, so I'm currently considering a path in that direction.

Before getting into education, my photography work was more of an investigation of how language and images interact. As a Mexican-born artist, I liked experimenting with the idea of taking my native language's idioms and common sayings, translating them into images and displaying them to people from all different cultures and languages and seeing their reaction and then creating their own meaning. My art was definitely more about the interaction between the viewer and the art work. Now my work consists of anything from painting, to food photography to ceramics and metals! I love working in new mediums and getting the chance to work with my hands.
